
Editor-In-Chief: Avery Joy
Avery is a graduate student completing her Master’s in English at San Diego State University. While earning her BASc in English and Comparative Literature and a minor in Creative Editing and Publishing from San Diego State University, Avery founded Femininomenon Magazine, the university’s first female-founded publication.
She is from Orange County, California and resides in San Diego, California. Avery currently works in education and aspires to work in the publishing field for books and/or magazines.
Creative Director: Sara Corrado
Sara is a teacher credential student at San Diego State University. She completed her Bachelor’s degree from the university in Art Education. Sara helped found Femininomenon Magazine by beginning as Head of Art and stepping up to become the magazine’s Creative Director.
As a military kid, Sara moved around a lot, but considers California her home. She strives to become a middle school or high school art teacher.


Head of Writing: Lauren Padilla
Lauren is a sophomore at San Diego State University majoring in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and minoring in Political Science. She began as a writer for Femininomenon Magazine in its first year and has taken over the writing team with her love for the magazine’s mission and community. Lauren is also a writer for The Daily Aztec.
Lauren is from Temecula, California, but frequented Chula Vista and Carlsbad when growing up.
Head of Photography: Katie Flores
Katie is a senior at San Diego State University majoring in Journalism with an emphasis in Advertising. This is her second year as Head of Photography for Femininomenon Magazine and she is excited to continue contributing to the magazine’s community and to help other creatives grow.
Katie works as a Photographer and Photo Editor primarily in the entertainment industry. She has worked for Variety Magazine, Live Nation, and Billboard.


Head of Photography: Tori Rinaldo
Tori is a graduate from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s in Marketing. She is continuing her education at San Diego City College to earn a Certificate in Photography. Tori works in photography, videography, and promotions and was previously a photographer for Femininomenon Magazine.
She is from California’s Central Valley and currently lives in San Diego, California. Tori loves music, Farmers’ Markets, and spending time with friends.
Event Coordinator: Fiona McCoy
Fiona is a senior nursing student at San Diego State University. In Femininomenon Magazine’s first year, she was a writer and assisted the executive board with photography and events. Fiona is excited to plan events this year as the Event Coordinator and to create a welcoming, fun environment for all creatives.
Fiona is a dual American-Canadian citizen who grew up in California’s Bay Area. She loves figure skating, the beach, and boba and hopes to work Labor and Delivery or Emergency Medicine after graduation.


Executive Assistant: Emily Hawkins
Emily is a sophomore at San Diego State University majoring in Journalism with an emphasis in Media Studies and a minoring in Interdisciplinary Studies through the Weber Honors College. In Femininomenon Magazine’s first year, she joined as a writer and has risen to the Executive Assistant position that was made for her for her exceptional leadership and devotion to the magazine.
She adores her hometown in Northern Virginia, which resides outside of Washington D.C., Emily loves to crochet, write, see live music, work out, and spend time with friends.
